Meet the Owner

I am so happy that you are here! I am going to start sharing my adventure with you through the form of journaling. I thought that it might be a great way for you to get to know me better and for me to show you my craft!

My name is Destinee and I own Skies the Limit Events. Of course, none of this would be possible without my supportive husband, Reed. He often makes a joke how I call this 'MY' business. But, in all honesty he is the one to build for me, load and unload, tear down when I don't feel like it and be the sounding board that keeps me somewhat sane.

Almost five years ago, we found ourselves newly relocated to the La Crosse area and I was going stir-crazy being a full-time stay at home mom with our nine month old twins. We went to a wedding and were presented with an opportunity to purchase wedding inventory from a couple of ladies getting out of their side gig.

Together we went back and fourth about what this would mean for our family. Ultimately, we made the decision to embark on this journey together. And, so far it hasn't been anything short of a blessing for our family. It has meant that I get to stay home and be the primary caregiver for our four young boys- Walker, Hudson, Graham and Simon. It has also meant that I am able to have something that it mine. Something that doesn't get lost in the day to day craziness of raising a family.

A few fun facts about me:

  1. I am an only child. Let me repeat: I AM AN ONLY CHILD, raising 4 small boys. I have had to learn how to share. I have had to learn what it is like to have a loud, high energy household. But, this isn't where I ever thought I would find myself. Reed and I are survivors of infertility. We have been blessed to go through IVF and have it work the first time. This is how we got the twins! Graham came as a very BIG surprise to us. And, then Simon was the best little oops! And, let me tell you (since everyone asks) WE. ARE. DONE.

  2. My background is in public health. I went to school to be a public health planner. I worked in the field for almost seven years and I loved every minute of it. I worked on community health policies, did community education and got to work to make communities a better place.

  3. I am a sucker for making old things new. I love to go thrift shopping. I love to find old furniture and make it new again. I am obsessed with the charm of old homes. I can see past the parts that need fixing and I can see what it could be.

  4. I am an extrovert with the need for introverted recharging. I love to be around people. I love to talk. I love to entertain. But, I have learned that I have to have downtime to recharge and care for myself. It has taken me many years to learn this about myself!

  5. I LOVE animals. I am always the one that sees a dog out in public and has to say hello.

I am so excited that you are here to follow along in my journey! I am blessed to be able to work with clients to make their events special. I love what I get to do and I can't wait to share more of the nitty-gritty with you!

Until next time, cheers!
